GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026. Do these seven things this week so nothing slows you down on launch night.
1. Clear plenty of storage space
GTA 6 will be a very large download. Check the final size on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store page, then free up more than that, because day-one patches add extra.
2. Update your console
Install the latest system software now so an update doesn't block you on launch night.
- PS5: Settings → System → System Software → System Software Update and Settings
- Xbox Series X|S: Settings → System → Updates
3. Let your console download while it sleeps
- PS5: Settings → System → Power Saving → Features Available in Rest Mode → turn on Stay Connected to the Internet
- Xbox Series X|S: Settings → General → Power options → choose Sleep
4. Preload as soon as it's available
If you've pre-ordered, the store will let you preload before launch. Start it the moment it opens so the game is ready to play when it unlocks.
5. Set up clip capture
You'll want to save your best moments.
- PS5: press the Create button. Under Settings → Captures and Broadcasts you can change the video length and resolution.
- Xbox: press the Share button. Settings → Preferences → Capture and share controls clip length.
6. Expect busy servers on day one
Big launches put heavy load on online services. If something online fails on launch night, try again later before troubleshooting.
7. Bookmark the map
Our interactive GTA 6 map will pin collectibles, money spots and secrets as they're found, with a checklist that saves your progress. Press Ctrl+D (or ⌘+D on Mac) to bookmark it.
